This place is called Farabolon. I, who am talking to you now, was circumcised here. This is a place of circumcision. I spent three months here with friends. We slept here, we spent the day here, nobody went back to the village during the whole circumcision period.
It was our parents who came to bring us food. The men were the ones who brought the food, the women never came here.
During the three months, we were taught many things: the distinction between right and wrong, the village’s prohibitions, good morals and codes of conduct. And at night, we would light up woods surrounded by straw, burning torches, to look for agoutis in the area. That’s where we stayed and learned many things.
It’s an ancestral practice, our parents went through it and we also went through it.
