“Update on the socio-economic survey…”, November 2021

The socio-economic survey carried out in February-March 2021 in the villages participating in the Watigueleya Kêlè project could not be finalised in the village of Damaro (Guinea) due to an alert concerning the Ebola epidemic. Postponed to the beginning of September, the end of the collection operation had to be postponed again due to the political events that led to a change of regime in Guinea. A team of investigators from the Donkosira association therefore travelled to Damaro from 16 to 21 November 2021 to successfully complete the operation. The collection phase of the survey is now fully completed.

As a reminder, this survey, which was initially intended to be essentially contextual and to allow for a socio-economic and socio-demographic framing of the villages and areas studied, evolved during the year 2020 to be expanded to include questions on the project’s specific themes, notably concerning climatic and agro-ecological hazards (impact, modification or not of practices in the face of shocks, whether or not to call on someone or an organisation, etc.) and natural resource management (participation in meetings, whether or not to be informed, etc.).

As agreed with the authorities of the different villages participating in the project, each village will soon be provided with a “village statistical monograph” reporting the main results of the survey, a document which we hope will support future advocacy actions.
